My Grandfather accidentally signed up for this wine club and he's been paying for it for like, 3 or 4 months at this point. He doesn't nearly drink that much wine, so while I was over for Mother's Day, my parents pretty much begged me to take some of the of their hands.

So guess who's 7 bottles of wine richer?

"red or white?"

A mix of both. There were so many different types. I was pouring over my phone trying to pick out the least dry and most sweet varieties (for reference, my two favorite wines are Lambrusco and Rieslings)

coffee

oh shit you have the same wine taste as me

straight up drinking dry wine is like *tiny sip "shit does it really taste like this?" *another tiny sip *lip smack "yes it does"

star-rice

God and I didn't even feel bad bc my Grandfather likes dry wines. He doesn't need the sugary syrup wine that I like (of which Im sure I didnt' get any of bc no one who connoisseurs wine goes for that shit). I can be a "its better than beer and I wanna be a kind of way" person if need be.

I did get some perspective when I picked just a random bottle one day that was, I shit you not, like 4 dollars for the bottle. I swear to got I put that shit in my mouth and it did not feel like I was imbibing a liquid, it was that fucking dry. A friend and I cut it horrendously with sprite and it was still god awful dry. So I try to remember that I could be drinking that for a good time instead.

So, mistakes were made and Megan knocked over a full glass of water onto partly my bed and partly a box full of cords and other electronics.

Pros: I now have to clean under that desk and organize/clean my cords like I've been meaning to.

Cons: I now have to clean under that desk and organize/clean my cords. And its wet now.

star-rice

@coffee

Thankfully things only got topically wet (it was mostly cords and closed laptops). I just had to untangle black spaghetti that's not only wet but covered in dirt and hair (I live on a dirt road in a house with only hard floors inhabbited by 3 cats and 2 dogs). This particular part of my room doesn't get swept bc its a pain in the ass to move this particular box. It's under a desk that's perfectly wedged between my bed and 2 walls so I've just resigned this part of my ro to be dirt hell. It's where things go to die and be lost to the void forever. There's so much particulate down here. And it's wet. And I cry.

coffee asked:

๐ŸŒŽ, ๐ŸŒง๏ธ, โญ?

๐ŸŒŽ - If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? Or, what's your favorite place you have visited?

I'd like to do a full tour of the west coast one day, for sure. The geography is just so different to here. Feels way more wild and green, especially the trees. Out here, most of the trees you see amidst towns and businesses were put there by a person. Its only if you live out in the sticks that you get more genuine trees. I definitely miss being surrounded on all sides by forest. It's quite amazing.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ - Favorite weather?

I love love love when it storms like a motherfucker. Hard, life shaking torrents and loud thunder that moves your soul. Just that forever would be nice~ (you know, without all the concerns one might have for their house and vehicals).

โญ - If you like space, what do you like about it?

It's only in space that we can really begin to apply relativity on a broader scale. Everything we see in the night sky is just an image of events that have already come to pass. Time itself is a fluid thing and our perception of it is not a constant. Much of our relationship with the universe is done an a strictly comparative basis and I think that becomes extrememly apparent when considering space and our place in the universe (both physically and metaphorically). I think I've kind of accepted that space is going to stay an allegory to me instead of a reality for the human race (as far as my life time goes). And from that I've derived a very 'my life doesn't matter to the whole of everything, so why not do what I can for myself and my experience'. I can't truly ever give that experience to anyone else. I can impart pieces of it (mostly through other abstract comparison as well), but the person my experiences matter the most to is me. No matter how hard I try I'll never be able to put it down in any language, on any piece of art, nor compose any musical piece or memoir. It will always be at the whim of someone elses understanding. Its very raw and very human, very relatable even, but still so segregated from everyone but myself.

lavender and balsam

lavender: what always calms you down when you're stressed out?

Part of me really wanted to straight up be like "xanax yo" bc I do, in fact, take that when losing it. But lets be real here, xanax will calm anyone down. So I'll go with the more commonly used method I use, which is just straight up escapism. Can't be stressed if you're doing literally anything else. If I can't escape from my thoughts then, well, we do truly have a problem don't we? In that case I'll usually try and sleep through the panic any way possible. Also, weed is both escapism and a sleep aid, if all else is failing.

balsam: what does a perfect day look like to you?

The perfect day is when you can sit in the sun and be pleasantly warmed and then sit in the shade and be pleasantly cool. Thats the perfect fuckin day right there. Like, you could use a jacket if the breeze was blowing just right, but if you're doing anything more than walking around, you likely dont need it.

@amias-as-i-am do you not clean out your coffeemaker?????? lmAOwho hurt you

amias-as-i-am

coffeemakers are impossible to clean good enough!!!! theres so many weird little nooks in em, why do they make em so hard to clean!! i use a pour-over bc i can clean it real easy and nothing tastes like old dirt coffee that way.

coffee

i couldnt say why theyre made so hard to clean but??? idk what to say besides be thorough. and when you think youre done double check.

and if youre really not sure just run it once w/o anything so the boiling water goes through everything

i agree about the pour-over tho its a lot less hassle? but i get Many Cups out of the coffee maker so it remains my go-to if i want A Lot of hot liquid

star-rice

I refuse to clean my coffe maker for this reason. I gave up. But then again, I donโ€™t use the coffee maker, so if the roomies wanna die from food poisoning theyโ€™re very free to continue not cleaning it.

I might look into what an over pour is though bc an easy to clean coffee device sounds rad as fuck.

coffee

its this weird ass thing you put over your coffee cup

you have to boil your own water (however you prefer) and you have to use a filter with it. if you do end up getting it i recommend putting the filter in first and doing a quick rince with boiling water to get rid of the papery taste itll have otherwise, then you can put your coffee grounds in.

then you just pour hot water over the coffee grounds until your cups full and voila!

star-rice

Ah okay. I'm familiar with the tea version of this (which has to be, admittedly more complex since brewing tea isn't nearly as instantaneous). Still sounds preferable to cleaning a coffee maker and I don't drink mega ass loads of coffee anyway (and usually when I do its for the experience rather than pure caffeine inhalation).

coffee asked:

iridescent, hiraeth, and bucolic

Iridescent - What's your favorite color? Why do you feel drawn to it?

I have, since probably early middle school, always really loved the color orange. If I have to pick a color to assign myself, its always orange. From an artist standpoint I feel colors stand best together, but if I have to pick a color to stand on its own, its always orange. I'm not exactly sure I could tell you why either. Where red and yellow can be too harsh, orange usually isn't (unless we're talking like, construction orange in which, miss me with that shit). My favorite shades are those that are just a little bit desaturated and not at all darkened.

Hiraeth - What does home mean to you? Why is that what it means? Do you have a home?

Home for me is embedded very deep in ones self. Home is people your completely safe around. Home is a childhood place untouched by the weariness of the world. Home is where your heart rests easy, even if only for a moment. It is both what you make it to be and something under circumstances you could never control. Home is knowing your own soul so personally that you couldn't even begin to describe it to someone else... even if sharing it with them was the one thing you wanted most in this world.

Bucolic - Is being in crowds stressful for you? Do you like crowds or do you prefer empty places?

I thought about this and went "nah, crowds are neat. I can keep my cool in a crowd." But then I remembered that being alone near a creek or under a tree existed. People can often be an obligation, whether small or large numbers. If I'm without a crowd, thats a whole crowds worth of possibilities I don't have to worry about.

I will admit though, there are some times when being in a crowd reassures you of safety. If only because if something were to happen, there has to be at least one soul able to help. In that same vein, it can also be very alienating.
