Housemate is working on a project and thought star stitch would be A+ for what he wanted. It's a pretty circular bag, so he wanted to see if there was a way to do star stitch in round (for reference: star stitch). It took me several iterations to figure out a solid pattern for increasing, but I did it.

It's a fine balancing act, but I finally got it to not teeter past the edge of disaster. One of the bigger problems is that, between the alternating rows of top and bottom stars (and trying to apply the proper increases) one row has too many stitches to comfortably fit in the round, and the next has too few. I wittled it down so that the opposite discrepancies mildly cancel each other out without pushing it to full on curl and wobble at the same time.

It's a shame that housemate got some more ideas while we were troubleshooting this, so he won't be using the pattern I came up with, but my brains jittering with brain chemicals after successfully dealing with this puzzle.

Doing another bag~

Here's a quarter for size comparison:

The yarn is pretty tiny. I'm working with a 2.75mm hook in bleeding moss stitch, as usual.
